Hypermedia

Over the past few years we have seen a significant increase in hypertext and hypermedia tools; the variety of hypermedia products now available is quite impressive and it seems we are constantly adding newer and even more innovative hyper systems.

I think hypermedia helped us more than it hurts. Some advantages of the hypermedia is: the ability to quickly follow information and look up for material, store large amounts of information, It can provide better visual prominence and more rapid navigation through huge number of entries. Most users refer to dictionaries, encyclopedias, and training manuals as part of more extended tasks. They would like to save their results and queries for future use, the ability to transfer quotes to other documents.

Even though the way of browsing through the hypermedia might increase the risk that the learner skips through the material much to hasty, and thus get a shallow and fragmented conception of the subject.
